About Lisa
I have been crocheting with wire for the past 13 years, long before it was a popular craft. My work demonstrates a unique style that incorporates the feeling of lace-work as it was done at the turn of the nineteenth century. Inspiration for my designs are found in my collection of “woman’s home craft” books from that same era, when women had time and were taught some of the finest needle arts such as; needlework, crochet, embroidery and knitting.
My handmade jewelry is crocheted with wire to make a “metal lace.” Crochet wire is essentially electrical wire with a copper core and an enamel finish to prevent tarnishing. Other elements used in my pieces include vintage glass beads, French cotton embroidery thread and silk fabrics. All earring wires are sterling silver and the headbands have a pure copper interior that can be stretched for a more comfortable fit, if needed. All designs are original and copyrighted by Lisa Toland.
